The clinic

Our equipment, plainly described.

The equipment we use and the materials we place in your mouth — listed by name and manufacturer.

Imaging

Low-dose digital radiography

Digital sensors replace film — radiation doses 70–90% lower than conventional X-rays. For full-arch diagnostics we use CBCT (cone-beam CT) 3D scans that guide implant planning with millimetre precision.

Sterilisation

B-class autoclave, documented cycles

All reusable instruments are cleaned, packaged, and sterilised in a Class-B vacuum autoclave — hospital operating theatre standard. Every cycle is logged; every packaged instrument is opened in front of you.

Dental chair

Independent operatories

Each operatory is a self-contained room with its own chair, suction, lighting, and imaging. Matters for patient privacy, noise control, and infection control. Medical-grade antimicrobial surfaces.

Magnification

Loupes and dental microscope

Root canal work and fine restorative procedures use 4–6× magnification loupes; endodontic cases use an operating microscope. We see more — missed canals, tiny cracks, leaking margins — and treat accordingly.

Materials

CE-marked, brand-named materials

We list the material and manufacturer in your treatment plan. Implants: Straumann, Nobel Biocare, or MIS. Ceramics: E-max and zirconia from IPS Ivoclar and 3M. You know what is going into your mouth.

Clinical software

Patient records & imaging archive

Your records — charting, treatment notes, X-rays — are kept in an encrypted practice management system. You can request your records (or have them sent to another clinic) at any time.

Technology questions

What patients usually ask.

How much radiation does a digital dental X-ray expose me to?
+
A single digital periapical image is around 0.5 microsieverts — about the same as an hour of natural background radiation, and roughly 70–90% less than traditional film X-rays. A full-mouth panoramic is 8–10 microsieverts; a CBCT scan 20–50 depending on the field of view.
What does "B-class sterilisation" mean?
+
It refers to the European EN 13060 Class B standard for vacuum autoclaves — the same cycle used in hospital operating theatres. Every load is logged, and packaged instruments are opened in front of you. Single-use items (needles, matrix bands, gloves) are disposed of after one patient, without exception.
Do you use dental microscopes?
+
Yes, for endodontic (root canal) cases. Routine restorative and surgical work is done under 4–6× loupes. Magnification catches missed canals, microcracks, and marginal leaks that the naked eye cannot see.
Which implant brands do you use?
+
Straumann and Nobel Biocare for most cases; MIS for cost-sensitive cases where clinically appropriate. All three are CE-marked with published long-term clinical evidence. The brand is listed in your written treatment plan.
Can I get my X-rays and records if I switch dentists?
+
Yes, at any time. Email info.finlanddental@gmail.com from the address on your file; we release a full PDF pack with images within two working days, free of charge. Records are yours.
