We start early and take our time. The first visit is about building trust, not clinical drama.

What to know.
The two habits that cause most cavities in Oman
Sleeping with a milk bottle, and sweet drinks throughout the day. Switching to water between meals prevents most early-childhood caries.
Fluoride in Oman tap water
Below the WHO-recommended range (<0.3 ppm vs 0.7–1.2 ppm). Children benefit from fluoride toothpaste from first tooth and clinic varnish every 6 months.
Brushing for kids
Rice-grain smear of toothpaste up to age 3, pea-sized from 3–6. An adult should brush for or with a child until at least age 7.

- At what age should my child's first dental visit be? +
- By age 1, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. The first visit is short, friendly, and mainly about building comfort.
- Do you use sedation for children? +
- Rarely, and only with paediatric specialist input. We rely on behaviour management, tell-show-do, and parental presence. For fearful children we schedule longer, unhurried appointments.
- Is fluoride varnish safe for kids? +
- Yes, when applied professionally at the correct dose. We recommend it every six months for children at higher caries risk, especially given the low natural fluoride in Oman’s tap water.
- When should my child see an orthodontist? +
- By age 7, even if the teeth look fine. Early screening catches crossbites, impacted canines, and growth issues that are far easier to manage at 7 than at 12.
- Do you accept insurance for children? +
- Most Oman health insurance policies cover paediatric preventive care. Send your policy details ahead of the appointment and we will confirm what’s included.
