The Procedure

Root canal treatment involves removing infected pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the tooth interior, and sealing it with biocompatible materials. Most procedures are completed in 1-2 visits with local anesthesia.

Aftercare

Some sensitivity is normal for a few days after treatment. A crown is usually recommended to protect the treated tooth. Maintain good oral hygiene to prevent future issues.

Expected Results

Root canal treatment has a success rate of over 95%. Treated teeth can last a lifetime with proper care and restoration.

Frequently asked questions

Does a root canal hurt?
+
The procedure itself, done under proper anaesthesia and magnification, is comfortable — often more so than the pain that brought you in. Post-procedure soreness for 2–4 days is normal and managed with standard pain relief.
Do I need a crown after a root canal?
+
For posterior teeth (premolars and molars) — usually yes, within 4–8 weeks. Treated teeth are more brittle and a crown prevents fracture. Anterior teeth sometimes don’t need a crown if the access cavity is small.
How much does a root canal cost in Muscat?
+
Single-canal tooth OMR 60–100. Molar with 3–4 canals OMR 100–180. A crown afterwards typically OMR 150–280. Insurance often covers part of the treatment.
How many visits does a root canal take?
+
Most cases finish in 1 or 2 visits of 60–90 minutes each. Complex or infected cases sometimes need a third visit for healing checks. Retreatment cases typically take 2 visits.
Can the tooth be saved without a root canal?
+
If the nerve is healthy and only the filling is leaking — yes, a large filling or onlay suffices. If the nerve is infected or the pulp has died, extraction or root canal are the two real options. We show you the X-ray before recommending.
